Starting your journey of Spirituality

I'm going to take an uneducated guess and assume that you don't feel spiritually connect to yourself?...

What is the definition of being 'Woke'? Is it dreadlocks at a music festival, or maybe having 100% attendance rate to educational conferences, or maybe its VEGANS. I know what your thinking " Everybody has their own way of feeling spiritually aligned" ... This is essentially the article in a nutshell, But I would like to continue blabbering for a minimum of 4 minuets, before the conclusion.

Have you ever heard of a BLUE ZONE? Pre-warning this may seem 'off-topic' but it will circle back around. A Blue Zone is a term used to describe regions around the world where people live significantly longer and healthier lives compared to the global average. These areas are known for having a butt load of centenarians (People who live to be 100 years old or older, Gosh ... Try keep up).

The concept was created by Dan Buettner. As he visited all this places he had a map and a blue pen in which he would mark down on the map were these places were, creating the name 'BLUE ZONES'


  1. Okinawa, Japan.

  2. Sardinia, Italy.

  3. Ikaria, Greece.

  4. Loma Linda, California, USA.

  5. Nicoya Peninsula, Costa Rica 

Key factors contributing to the longevity in these regions include:


  • Diet: Emphasis on plant-based foods, moderate alcohol consumption, and minimal processed foods.

  • Physical Activity: Daily natural movement such as walking, gardening, and manual labour.

  • Social Engagement: Strong family ties, community involvement, and social support networks.

  • Purpose: A sense of purpose and meaning in life.

  • Stress Reduction: Regular practices to manage and reduce stress.


Essentially, These beautiful people have done the 'Bare minimum' whilst being some of the most passionate and purposeful people! NOTE: Green juice is useless! eat beans instead. In most western cultures we have this horrible habit of working ourselves to the grave , then buying $15,000.00 dollars worth of supplements and then we die of cancer regardless. Apparently to be spiritually aligned, is to start with the basics. Have you eaten?, Have you drunk any water? Have you exercised? Have you said something nice to your self today? I personally think the reason why these people are able to live this long, is due to a lack of stress. Could the answer be 'The bare Minimum"?


Don't worry I had the same thought! 'How the hell am I meant to achieve this'?

In New Zealand you would be lucky enough to find a friend let alone a community to grow old with. Here the price of wholefoods is similar to that of a house deposit. Thankfully I've been thinking about this for a long time, so I have the answers ... Your welcome

The goal:

To have a nutrient filled diet to fuel our bodies, While leaving room to enjoy food its self.

How to achieve:

  • Learn more about our food and our food sources.

  • Listen to your body and how different foods make you feel throughout the day.

  • Love the idea of nourishing your body and restoring your health / wellbeing


TASK : How can you make these small changes in your day to day life? How can you LEARN, LISTEN and LOVE?


Physical activity

The goal:

 To have healthy & strong bodies to support our experiences and adventures.

How to achieve:

  • Learn more about your body.

  • Listen to your body and how different activities make you feel (Mentally and physically).

  • Love the idea of strengthening and connecting with your vessel.


TASK : How can you make these small changes in your day to day life? How can you LEARN, LISTEN and LOVE?


Community

The goal:

 To feel connected with others that bring positivity to our lives.

How to achieve:

  • Learn more about your self before learning about others.

  • Listen to your body and how different people make you feel (Mentally and emotionally).

  • Love the idea of sharing your love with others.


TASK : How can you make these small changes in your day to day life? How can you LEARN, LISTEN and LOVE?


Purpose

The goal:

To have goals that have a positive and motivating impact on our lives and potentially others.

How to achieve:

  • Learn more about your craft.

  • Listen to your body and how different situations make you feel (Mentally, Emotionally and physically).

  • Love the idea of Creation.


TASK : How can you make these small changes in your day to day life? How can you LEARN, LISTEN and LOVE?


Stress reduction

The goal:

 To be able to cope with stressful events and emotions in a safe way.

How to achieve:

  • Learn more about your body and how you react to stress.

  • Listen to your body and and mind, You have all the answers so try find clarity within your thoughts.

  • Love the idea of strengthening your Mental, Emotional and spiritual stability.


TASK : How can you make these small changes in your day to day life? How can you LEARN, LISTEN and LOVE?


Unrealistic expectations often lead to disappointment, failure and self sabotage.

Remember that your goals need to be suitable for your situation.

Dream big , But don't trip over your own feet.


Keeping our expectation realistic is vital when heading down the path of self discovery. People will say phrases such as "Just do it!" or "How badly do you want it?". Although some may find that type of motivation effective, Others simply need more closure before committing to a difficult journey. Its a normal reaction to want to eliminate every obstacle that is foreseen as difficult before starting the journey... I'm sorry Honey, That's never going to work. In your journey you will have many hardships, Many stop signs and many emotions and feelings, But at the end of the day all you need is to truly believe that you deserve a beautiful life were you can safely feel connected with yourself. When I recommended to keep expectations low its not because you are 'Unable' to achieve greatness, Its because often we forget that progress is accomplished in the smallest steps everyday. Stay motivated, But recognise when your 'Motivations' comes from a darker place... It may be insecurity disguised as motivation.


You are not weak or lazy for dedicating your spiritual journey to yourself and your own needs!


Thank you for allowing me to blabber for 4 minuets, Now ... IN CONCLUSION. We must accept that our spiritual journey is One of a kind and you will never find another quite like it. In this journey you will be the Student, The Teacher and the Master. At the end if the day, You have all the answers! Its just a matter of discovering them within yourself. Use the three L's to guide your way...
